As part of the Verizon Wireless Midwest Ambassador Group I had the opportunity to review the WeMo Switch. Honestly, I’ve had it for a while but I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work for me. The directions are pretty self explanatory, and provides a step by step guide of setting everything up, but for some reason it wasn’t working for me (and I was determined to figure it out because it looked so easy…and really it was very easy to install).
I looked on YouTube and found a clip of someone installing the switch to make sure I wasn’t missing any parts of the set up, and I wasn’t so I sat and tried everything over. The only thing I did change was the device I was installing the app on. The app is available on Apple and Android. I couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t work on my phone but it worked on my iPad.
Once I got everything set up on my iPad I actually fell in love with the switch! I was sitting on the couch and once it got dark outside I turned on the light without having to move! LOL…okay I know that’s not the purpose but it was very convenient (especially for a pregnant woman)!
In the app there are options to put the switch on a timer, and if I decided to purchase this switch that is what I would do. I do not like coming home to a dark house, so I would probably put the switch on a daily timer so there would be lights on in the house when I got home (especially if I come home late). Its also good for if you are going on vacation, you don’t want to leave your house dark as if no one is there or has been there so it would work great for those purposes too (safety first). Once the switch is installed as long as you have an internet connection it can work from anywhere!
In my opinion…this switch is worth purchasing!!! If you are like me…your lifestyle is an “on the go” type of lifestyle and this would be an awesome to aid in the safety of your family and household!
