Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. Its Raining...
Last night was the best sleep that I have had in a while! Of course it would happen on a Sunday night, and I have to get up and go to work the next morning. This weekend was one busy weekend...and although Darrick and I got in the house early Saturday night, I still didn't feel RESTED Sunday Morning.

2. RECEPTION VENUE-BOOKED!!!!
Wahoooo!!! Saturday morning Darrick and I had a meeting with the wedding coordinator from the catering company we are going with. We knew going into the meeting that we were going to book the location. After booking the location I walked out smiling...its really going to happen! I am getting married next May! I still don't believe it...now I have LOTS of work to do!

3. New Book to Read
I saw this book on another blog and decided to read it. I have purchased many wedding magazines and books on planning for the big day, but I haven't read any books about afterwards. Often we plan for the "big day" but after that day is over, we have to maintain our relationship.  I showed the book to Darrick after I bought it and he was just as interested as I was...I read some of a chapter to him this weekend. And we briefly talked about it...it really makes me happy that I am with someone that wants this to work as much as I do. He suggested we read it together...and talk about it! Geeze I LOVE that man!

Summary: Most people spend far more time in preparation for their vocation than they do in preparation for marriage. No wonder the divorce rate hovers around fifty percent.

Gary Chapman, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The 5 Love Languages and marriage counselor, with more than 35 years of counseling couples, believes that divorce is the lack of preparation for marriage and the failure to learn the skills of working together as intimate teammates. This practical book is packed with wisdom and tips to develop a loving, supportive, and mutually beneficial marriage. It's the type of information Gary himself wished he had before he got married.

4. Sunday School
I pretty much go to church every Sunday.  Before Darrick and I got together I was also attending Sunday School (small Bible classes held before service Sunday Morning) on a regular basis. After we got together I kind of fell off on attending and so did Darrick. Right now our Sunday school is currently running campaign to get the attendance numbers up for Sunday School classes. Week before last, I attended my first class in about a year, and it really felt good to be back! I told Darrick before I attended that I was going to start going back to Sunday School, he said okay and he was ready Sunday morning to go to Sunday School with me! This weekend was our second weekend in a row attending Sunday School...and it really feels good to be back, and it feels good to be back in Sunday School together!

5. Mary Kay

I am now a Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant!
I joined Mary Kay after attending a party that my sister held! Let me first say this company is AMAZING! I know you are thinking that I'm saying this because I just joined, however, I haven't earned one penny from this company yet! I am still in the learning phase...however, even though they are known for skincare and makeup...the company is also out to help women as a whole (on a personal and professional level)!  The strive on women looking their best, feeling their best, and always striving for more! I joined because I can bring in some extra money while planning this wedding...and just some extra income altogether while playing in makeup and skincare! I will be posting more on this once I am all set up!

Mary Kay model is God first, family second, career third!

What Your Wedding Colors Say About You

Black: A conservative choice, black complements almost any color, especially lighter hues. Dignified and mysterious, black denotes sexiness and sophistication with a modern twist. Black is classic, never trendy, alluding to a modern bride. As an opulent choice, black is timelessly elegant.

White: Symbolic of purity and innocence, white has strong connotations of youth and perfection. White aficionados seek excellence and enlightenment, as simplicity and recognition are constant ventures. White is a glorious hue (or lack thereof) that denotes a clean palette or fresh start for those who seek serenity and peace.
Pink: A softer, girlish choice, pink is the sweeter side of red. A delicate hue, pink represents a sensitive heart that is affectionate and nurturing. The bride surrounded with pink has a maternal grace and compassion and a desire for protection or shelter. The rosy hue fan may also have a strong personality, but one that is willing to share.

Big Decision Time...

This weekend is going to be a BIG weekend for Darrick and I. This Saturday we are booking our reception location. I still have a little anxiety about this but I feel this is the best deal that we have gotten so far! I really like the venue, I just think I'm going to have to add a lot to it to make it into what I want! The company that will be catering the event, basically provides EVERYTHING except the decorations (which is fine because I wanted to do them myself)! So I'm thinking of inter-mixing the flower arrangements on some of the tables! I want high decorations on some, and smaller ones on the other tables.

So here is a picture of our venue...

I'm really big on decorations... and one of the things I REALLY, REALLY want lighting at the reception! Luckily I found a DJ that has lighting as part of his package so I don't really have to look into finding someone else to do it! The only thing is I am having a hard time getting in touch with the DJ....

Its so pretty!!!
I think I am going to go with Pink Lights because the colors are Black and White with pink accents...and I think this will really make the color POP!

This weekend I am going to have to tell the Coordinator which colors I want to go with for the tables and what color napkins. So of course this will be black and white but which way do I want to do this??? This is where I need your opinions...

When I met with this lady regarding the wedding reception venue she told me since my colors are black and white and the wedding is in May I would probably want to go with White Table Clothes and Black Napkins, because the other way around would make it have a wintery feeling??? What do you think? I think I may be leaning towards the white...

Has anyone done lighting for their wedding on their own? If so, please email me so I can get directions greeneyedladyblog@gmail.com

OK that's enough wedding stuff for one day...

Curvy Fashionista: Sara Ramirez

Its been a while since I have done a Curvy Fashionista post. However, after seeing Sara Ramirez on the cover of Latina Magazine, I knew I had to do it!! She is one of my favorites on Grey's Anatomy, not to mention I look up to her as another Curvy Fashionista embracing her curves, while breaking down weight barriers in Hollywood!!!

(This cover is FABULOUS)

Check out the Behind the Scenes from the Shoot

Sara Ramirez shows off her gorgeous curves on the cover of Latina magazine’s March 2011 issue, on newsstands Tuesday (February 15).

Here’s what the 35-year-old actress had to share:
On battling depression: “Somehow I managed to do it, but it wasn’t pretty. There were days that I would show up to work and come out the side of my face to people who didn’t deserve it.”

On body issues: “There’s a whole list of things you could worry about. Are you skinny enough? Talented enough? In all kinds of ways, I used to be really, really hard on myself.”

On Grey’s Anatomy’s drama: “[I found myself] in the midst of a hurricane. So much time on Grey’s was spent just trying to figure out what kind of family I was walking into. There was so much drama and so much time wasted focusing on the wrong things.”

On being different: “I’ve never been very cookie cutter. If I choose something different from the status quo, it’s my responsibility and my choice to live my life that way.”

Visit Latina Magazine!

As with all Curvy Fashionista's I must show other pictures
displaying their fabulousness
(I dont think that is a word...but oh well you understand me right)!
