Style Maker Quiz

I was reading some blogs last night before bed, when I came across the Style Maker Quiz! I love taking quizzes to see how accurate they are. This particular quiz you had to click on pictures and it tells you about your style.  I thought my results came out pretty accurate...what I do know is I would LOVE to have a house or kitchen that looks like the pictures below...

My style is...

Results: You most resemble a "Colonial Rennaissance"
Details...

A classic home in an established neighborhood. A kitchen that reflects your passion… large, sweeping - authentic. The subtle refinements of your sleeping nest reflect a desire for order. A soulful rendition of your life in the key of G. Modern subtleties extend to your table. Afternoon refreshments on the patio Like all good times start with a divine entry! A creative and social space, your kitchen is managed competently by you..

Suspected "Colonial Rennaissance"

- Jacqueline Kennedy Onasis
- Hillary Clinton
- Kristin Scott Thomas

I think its very interesting how your style changes over time. Before I was never into the country/southern style of decorating. However, within this last year...I have fallen in love with it. The country/southern style is what my mom has LOVED forever, and our house has always had that type of feeling in it, I always said when I get older Im going to have everything modern, but now I have fallen in love with the same style she loves!

Updates on Life...

(I wish I had a home office that looks like this)

As of yesterday the wedding is 16 months away!!! I've been meaning to write this blog all week long but I am just getting to it! There has been so much going on with me lately its crazy! Wedding Planning is OFFICIALLY underway! I have been researching reception venues since before the end of the year, and we are just getting to a point of having a couple on the list that are nice and reasonably priced! A woman can plan a wedding and talk "wedding business" until she is blue in the face but a man can't...I'm learning this! So while I'm frazzled about wedding plans, Darrick is like calm down it will all work out! LOL!! I think I have done so much talking, calling people, emailing people, that he has come up with the plan of on weekends we are to only talk wedding business for a couple hours and that's it! LOL!! That's fine by me because earlier this week I had a break down about not finding the perfect place, budget issues, and so on...the next day he had a plan for me! LOL!

**We have a proposal that was sent to us that is in the budget!!!! Wahoo!!! PRAISE GOD!!! I'm  was getting tired viewing locations and no one being able to give us a good price!!!

I know I said this before but I have been totally unmotivated about school lately! I didn't really care for my last professor, she was SUPER critical of everything that I turned in! I guess I shouldve sat down and read the APA Style Manual from front to back before her class because if you made one little mistake and she caught it, she docked you at least 5-10 points!

In the middle of planning a wedding, going to school, and working...we are doing some work on Darrick's house. Darrick has his own house, and right now lets just say its the ultimate bachelor's pad! We have decided that after we get married we are going to live there for a couple of years to save for a house! So he doing some updates on the house, so it will be a house for a husband and wife! LOL!!! He has been wanting to do some updates on it for a while...but now is his chance (he loves home DIY projects)! I have been to Lowe's, Furniture Stores, and in the Home Repair section of stores more than I care to be! LOL its all for a good cause...so I suck it up and go! I'm sure pictures will come soon regarding our home DIY projects!

Im not sure if you know or not but The Green Eyed Lady has a facebook page...

Ok I think that is all of my updates right now...I will try to be a better blogger and update more often!

Fashion Trend: Leggings

Essence Magazine did an article on Leggings. I have read many articles and blogs about this current trend. In Hollywood, this casual piece gets the star treatment with sequins, studs and sexy prints.  Personally I love them, I have big calfs so jeans inside my boots don't work...but leggings do! They are so comfortable...I wear them a lot on the weekends because you can make them into a cute outfit with your boots (and stay warm at the same time). Here in Cleveland, its so cold that sometimes being cute isn't an option, its more like bundle up so you aren't cold!!! But with leggings I can wear them with tights underneath (if its extremely cold), and you cant tell I am layered up but I can still wear a cute sweater to dress my outfit up if I am going out!
I also wear them from time to time in the warmer months. I wear them underneath dresses and tunics, but I can wear them with sandals or flats. I love this current fashion trend because its easy...leggings can be dressed up or down depending on the look you are going for.

Even Plus Size women can do leggings...however there are a full rules that you need to abide by:
  • Wear them with a long, tunic type top or under a shorter dress or under a shorter skirt.
  • Leggings are tight, do NOT wear them with a tight top!
  • Stick to the basics - black, gray, brown, etc. Also, don't choose anything that's close to your skin tone. Otherwise, it will make you look almost naked from the waist down and people will definitely give you odd looks.
  • When you think about wearing leggings and what to pair with them, think about them as opaque tights. You wouldn't wear opaque tights with a top that showed your crotch or your butt...would you? I'd hope not! Even if you have a fabulous behind (or crotch) it would still look vulgar if you dressed this way.

My First Bridal Show...

Last Saturday, my mom, my sister and I attended a bridal show. This was my first EVER Bridal Show...and we had soooooo MUCH fun! I received so much information and lots of coupons which will come in handy!!!  I received a coupon off of a wedding dress...I originally planned to purchase a dress closer to summertime but that is now moved up to March 5!!! That when I go to try on dresses! I'm so excited...planning a wedding is excited and VERY overwhelming!!!

Here are some pictures below of different things we saw at the Bridal Show...

I LOVED these flowers inside the water as the table centerpieces!

Below are a few pictures from the cake samples we had the chance of tasting...OMG there is all kinds of cake flavors from Butter Pecan, to Lemon with Raspberry Filling (my favorite), to Banana and Strawberry, to Champagne!!!!

As you can see above...we killed them! LOL! Actually we didn't eat every one of them...we tasted them but we didn't like all of them! But majority of them we did like
 (DON'T JUDGE US) LOL!

This lady (pictured above) actually stands in the table...she looked like a Mermaid! It was really pretty...but not something I would want at my wedding!

My Sister and I...

This is a Magnet of the 3 of us (my sister, me, and my mom)...this vendor comes to the reception takes pictures of the guests then displays them on a dry erase board for guests to stop by and claim their pics as the wedding favor. Of course my mom claimed our picture for herself, after she showed her friends...LOL!!!
