Thank God-Buns are Back (Megan Barkley)

In an article by Megan Barkley a Shine Blogger on Yahoo, one of her latest post is called "Thank God-Buns are Back." I read the title of the article and I knew I needed to read the full article immediately. Ever since I have been doing my own hair (I think I started between the ages of 9-12...not really sure) I've had a long lasting relationship with ponytails and buns! If you really know me you know that I will put my hair up in a minute! Sometimes I do a bun, sometimes its a hanging ponytail! My ponytail is my go to hair style, if my hair isn't doing right I result to a ponytail.

In the article Barkley states "I am SO excited that BUNS are back in style. One because it's a ridiculous-kind of hot outside. Two because it's easy. And three, it's just cute! No longer will I have to wake up early to straighten, curl or wave my hair.

No longer will I have to spend 25 minutes putting rollers in my hair in the evenings just so I won't have to wake up early.

No longer, ladies, will I have to harm my hair my spraying, molding or cramping harsh chemicals into my do!

Nope! Just flip your hair down, pull it all up to the top of your head, wrap around your finger and tie down. Pin up anything that might fall down around the back. And BAM! Good to go for work."

Is this not the best article EVER!!! An article telling me to put my hair in a ponytail/bun because its in style right now! LOL! I love it!!!

Getting to Know You...

Hello Green Eyed Lady Readers...hope you are having a fab Sunday! I have had a great day so far, I went to church this morning, then some running around with Darrick this afternoon! I had to exchange a shirt at Macy's this afternoon and I found a fab Navy Boyfriend Blazer for less than $40!!! Wahoooo! Now Im at Darricks house and its storming outside so I thought this would be a good time to write a blog!

Ok, so I have always wanted to participate in one of these survey's, this one is called Getting to Know You Sunday, the orginal post is from MannLand5 but I originally saw it on Ok, Dan.

Here are my answers to this week's questions:


1.If you had 5000.00 to spend on plastic surgery what would you have done?
I would have the work that needs to be done on my teeth done, and I would probably do a whiting treatment as well.
2. Do you watch Soap operas and if so what is your favorite and why?
I watch The Young and The Restless and General Hospital. Im usually not home when they come on however, Im always around when my mom watches them and I get sucked in...LOL!
3. Favorite clothing brand?
I really dont have a specific brand that is my favorite, I just like nice clothes. I usually shop at Macy's, Torrid, Target, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and NY and Company...I can go on but I will stop here...LOL!

4. An afternoon shopping spree at your favorite store or maid service for a year?
Depends on how much the shopping spree is...honestly, I can clean my own house so I would probably go with the shopping spree!

5. Would you ever vajazzle?
LOL! Ummm probably not

6. Favorite Disney Princess?
Tiana would probably have to be my first choice with Belle coming in as a close second!

7. Last movie that made you bawl your eyes out?
The Blind Side...I may have to make Darrick watch that tonight!!!

8. Have you ever broken any bones and if so what?
No, hopefully I never experience this!

Smoky-Eyed Sirens

I was reading the article Smoky-Eyed Sirens on Yahoo, and I must say I LOVE the smoky eye with nude lips. This look is what I do most with my make up when I am going out or I want a dramatic look. I'm sure mine doesn't looks as good as the celebrities, but they are my inspiration!

Sweet Tooth...

LET ME WARN YOU...

this post is totally random but will probably

make you want to eat sweets after you look at the pictures!!!

Lately I've had a MAJOR sweet tooth! Let me tell you its been really bad!! During this time of year I fall back in love with Ice Cream. I don't really eat Ice Cream throughout the year but I cant get enough of it during the summer months. I have been eating Ice Cream and Cake or Ice Cream and Cookies...and this is really bad because I am really trying to get back on track!

I have changed up my eating patterns during lunchtime, mainly to save money but to also eat better. I have been packing healthy lunches, and drinking lots more water! I am trying with small steps but I have to get this sweet tooth business out of my system!

Do you have any cravings that you cant get

out of your system when you are trying to eat better?

Oh and the pictures below are to entice you with my cravings...but really it has made me want some sweets in the middle of the day! LOL!!

Maybe I should try some Weight Watcher versions of these snacks??? What type of healthy snacks to you eat to help you stay on track but gives you the sweet fix that you need???

Huge on ABC

 Nikki Blonsky’s new project Huge will premiere on ABC on June 28, 2010...seems like it will be an interesting show. Not really sure how I feel about the name along with the content of the show but I guess I need to see it first before I jump to conclusions!

 

My New Secret Obsession...

Jersey Couture!!!!

OMG my cousin Dawn told me about this show when I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago. I told her I didnt watch it but I had seen previews from the show. So the other night I caught an episode they had playing on Oxygen and I immediately fell in love!

Birthday Boy!!!

This past weekend was Darrick's Birthday! For some reason I didn't take many pictures, maybe because it was EXTRA hot and I didn't have the strength! LOL!

The weekend started on Saturday with Brunch at his house with his family, there was a bunch of food!! I made him a lemon cake because that's what he asked for.

Sunday we went to church, then dinner later that day. For dinner, he requested that we go to Brasa (this is where Darrick took me for my birthday last year). For those of you that have never heard of Brasa it is a Brazilian Steakhouse!

I didn't take any pictures at Brasa.

Brasa feeds you tons of food...literally! The cards in this picture lets the waiters know that you are ready for more food. When you first get there, you go to the salad bar and pick some side dishes. Once you are finished eating your salad the waiters bring around meat, and more meat. There is a variety of meats they bring to your table and you tell them how much you want. So if the card is green side up the different waiters come around with everything from chicken, to top sirloin, to lamb and various other meats! When you turn the card over to the red side they stop coming to your table and give you a chance to eat what you have.
We had a great time, and he enjoyed his entire birthday!!!

Thank You Jesus...

Thank You Jesus!!!

The other day I was on Facebook, looking at random profiles. I came across a couple of profiles from people that had caused a lot of issues in my past, and of course I looked at the profiles but while I was looking them...I felt the Lord speak to me, it was like He whispered "It's in the Past!" 

I have moved on from the things in my past a few years ago and I THANK GOD for getting me away from all the drama, and the people that continuously caused issues in my life.  I know all people have to go through that one breakup and at the time you think you will never love anyone like that again, or that its the end of the world...however, I can say that God really showed me when you let go of something that is no good for you, He will bring something bigger and better to replace it (I had to really step out on faith and let Him handle that situation)! And believe me, walking away from my situation in the past was one of the hardest things to do, but let me tell you that it was one of the BEST decisions I've EVER made! 

God has REALLY changed my life and the people in my life for the better! Although there were people in my life that were major contributors to all the issues, I had to change myself...I had to be selfish for a minute and realize my worth and work on my own self esteem (little did I know...this was a growth process for me as well I learned soooo much throughout this entire experience).

I remember praying a prayer towards the end and I asked the Lord to remove people and situations out of my life, and prepare me for what you are going to do with my life once they are gone!

God is Awesome!!!

1. I feel weird when I miss church, especially on Sunday’s I sing in the choir

2. I wanted to join a sorority, but the one I wanted to join wasn’t on campus when I went to school…so now I want to pledge Grad Chapter
