Hello...

Hello Everyone!

I haven't blogged since January 23, 2010. I haven't forgotten about my blog...I have been very, very busy with life right now! Currently, I am trying to get into Graduate School and have been a little consumed with the application process...almost done!!! Wahooo!!!

I have also been changing my lifestyle with Weight Watchers and going to exercise (Cardio Kickboxing and Zumba) after work. I am getting in the routine of things, however, going to exercise causes me to get home a little bit later and I'm usually pooped by the end of the night! Not to mention we have been CRAZY busy at work due a new semester just starting!!!

I PROMISE I will get some new blogs out soon...please don't stop following

Jennifer Hudson to Perform at the White House!

Jennifer Hudson will perform at the White House in a “Celebration of Music from the Civil Rights Movement”. The event will focus on music that captures the struggles of the Civil Rights Movement and takes place on Feb. 10th. PBS will air a presentation of the events activities on Feb. 11th at 8pm (EST)

Rihanna's New Hairstyle...

Rihanna was spotted at the LA Clippers Cleveland-Cavaliers game at the Staples Center in Los Angeles with her new pal, Dodgers star Matt Kemp, wearing her hair styled in angelic golden ringlets. The pop star, appears to have kept her famous graduated bob hairstyle, adding playful curls for her day at the game.

Weight Watchers...

So for the past few months "Hungry (the Weight Watchers Monster)" has been after me! And boy did he accomplish his goal!!! He has been everywhere...at work, church, home, friends houses...I gained so much weight last year it is unbelievable!

However, this year is going to be a lot different! For starters, I joined the weight watchers online program! So far I have done pretty good. I weighed in for the first time this week and I lost 10 pounds...WAHOOOOOO!!!! I cant even begin to tell you how EXCITED I am...now I just have to keep it up! I plan on joining an exercise class with one of my friends and continue on this eating plan!

Gabourey Graces the cover of 'V' Magazine's Size Issue

'Precious' star Gabourey Sidibe is featured on the double-cover issue of V fashion magazine. The "Size Issue," which also features Dakota Fanning on the other cover, finds the New York native discussing how much her funny woman co-star helped her get over body image issues. "There were no real times that I thought maybe I can do it, until Mo'Nique came along. She's a plus-size woman who didn't care about one day being skinny. She disproved everything that everyone has ever told me," she said.

Gabourey is also on doing a shoot with Harper’s Bazaar: “I feel like a model. It justifies everyone in my life who told me I wouldn’t be anything until I lost weight. It justifies that little girl who cried because she didn’t think she could be in front of the camera. And it’s for other girls who feel like they can’t do this or that and feel like they’re not pretty and not worthy of having their photo taken.”

Gabourey on her favourite outfit: the red David Meister dress she wore to the L.A. premiere of Precious: “It was so va va voom, my boobs looked so good in it. I had diamonds on too. Diamonds really do it.”

Gabourey on her confidence: “People always ask me, ‘You have so much confidence. Where did that come from?’ It came from me. One day I decided that I was beautiful, and so I carried out my life as if I was a beautiful girl. I wear colors that I really like, I wear makeup that makes me feel pretty, and it really helps. It doesn’t have anything to do with how the world perceives you. What matters is what you see.”

BET Honors Queen Latifah!!!!

BET is honoring Queen Latifah at their third annual “BET Honors” event. The show will take place in Washington, DC on January 16 and will air on February 1 at 8pm. Whitney Houston, Sean “Diddy” Combs, educator Ruth Simmons and neurosurgeon Keith Black will also receive honors.
Queen Latifah has been in the game for OVER 20 years so this is long overdue.

Congrats Queen you deserve it!

I am an avid Blog reader...I read blogs about fashion, religion, marriage, to people lives. I was reading one of the blogs that I read on a daily basis and I came across this clip about Black women and the shortage of Black men, and I thought it was blog worthy!

All this talk about how black women are not married, how most men prefer women that are not black, how black women need to lower our standards...it's really upsetting!

V Magazine Believe’s “One Size Fits All”

The latest issue of V Magazine features an editorial dedicated to the so-called “Size Issue”. The “One Size Fits All” spread, shot by renowned photographer Terry Richardson, puts our standard super model up against a plus-size model in the same couture outfits and similar poses in order for readers to see first hand how a model and a real woman can look beautiful in the same outfit.

The two models are Jacquelyn Jablonski and Crystal Renn, and both look fabulous in the spread. V Magazine wanted to prove the point that “fashion can flatter every figure”. Hopefully this editorial will encourage women to love their bodies and embrace their curves at any size. The good news is that the issue of catering to woman of all sizes seems to be catching on.

V Magazine Presents: Curves Ahead

The fashion world does not accurately represent American women. Runway models are notoriously thin and often accused of fueling eating disorders in young women. Photographer Solve Sundsbo has recognized this troubling side of the fashion world and with the help of V Magazine, wants to showcase the beauty of bigger women.

V Magazine’s 63rd “Size Issue” includes the “Curves Ahead” photo shoot, which features plus size women in revealing swimwear and designer looks.

Personally, I think the models looks great. I think its horrible that society is fighting this issue when the average woman is a size 14 or above. I'm glad that more magazines are doing spreads that cater to Curvy Women!
