Tradition...

Every year on Thanksgiving Day, my mom is in the kitchen preparing Thanksgiving dinner, my dad is in the kitchen cooking breakfast, and everyone else is watching the Macy's Day Parade! I have been watching the parade every Thanksgiving Day since I was little...its family tradition! This year is a little different...this is the first year that Carlyce (my sister) isn't here to watch the parade with us! She is at her own home, I wonder what traditions she will create with her family or will she keep the tradition of the Macy's Day Parade going?
What are your family traditions for the holidays?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Take the time today and give thanks for all the Blessings in your life!

We Love Colors!

In the fall and winter, I love to wear tights!
I love the texture, the colors, and the different designs that are available during the colder seasons. Being a curvy chick, sometimes I find it hard to find the cute designer tights that fit! I know all women have issues with hosiery...usually I find my problem is the sizes on the back aren't very accurate, and I need to go up a size or two.
I found this cool website called We Love Colors that carry Plus Size Tights!

**In keeping with the tights theme...check out Ashley Stewart and Lane Bryant for tights for Curvy Women. Their sizes are usually pretty accurate!

Essence Magazine: 10 Tips for Making Female Friends

As, I get older I realize that its hard to make genuine female friends. I found this article from Essence Magazine which is titled "10 Tips for Making Female Friends." Below I am going to post the list verbatim because I think it has good tips for making and keeping female friends!

If you're finding it difficult to warm up to other women, here are ten helpful tips for making friends with other chicks.

10. Brush Your Shoulders Off:
Analytical creatures by nature, women can overthink the way people interact with us. If you convince yourself that someone doesn't like you, you'll be on the defense and won't be yourself. And if you don't open up, you'll never develop deep relationships.
9. Be Nice First:
When you enter a situation with a potential for catty-ness, kill it quickly with a smile or compliment. Women tend to react to each other based on their own insecurities. If you sense this in another girl, compliment her haircut or encourage her to do well in her endeavors. The wall she's built up will come crumbling down.
8. Don't Hate:
We tend to automatically assume other women are rude or crazy or sleazy, just because they're different from what we're used to. Women can sense when they're being summed up, so challenge yourself to not judge other people. If you treat them with respect, you may gain a new friend with a fresh perspective
7. Share Her Load:
That cranky co-worker, classmate or fellow church sister could just be T.O.'ed because she's got too much on her plate. A lot of women are working and taking care of the kids all on their own these days and that's a lot of pressure. When you get a minute, offer a helping hand. She's likely to return the favor once her load is lighter.
6. Give Her Some Space:
Even you and your best friend need some time to breathe. Our tolerance for each other tends to drop when stress levels are high. When you see your girlfriend after a little break, you'll have more to bond over.
5. Be Her Sugar Mama:
The saying, "You can't buy your friends," is not entirely true, especially when that friend has a sweet tooth. Bring back a chocolate chip cookie for a co-worker when you're out on a coffee run. She probably won't stop stealing your stapler when you're gone to the bathroom, but she might start bringing it back when she's done with it. Plus you could see a slight change in her mood since chocolate makes us girls feel good.
4. Get Tipsy:
We're not advocating drunkenness, but a girl's night cocktail can help you unwind and open up a little bit. Alcohol binds to the neurotransmitter serotonin which makes us feel more loving. You could end up hugging it out by the end of the night.
3. Get Boy Crazy:
Like it or not, women talk about men a lot. Open up about an experience or issue that you and your boyfriend or husband had. Because women often feel the need to talk through our differences more than men do, sometimes it's better to discuss your relationship with a girlfriend than with your man. Having a healthy dish session could improve your mood too.
2. So Opinionated:
Asking another woman her opinion lets her know right off the bat that you value what she thinks. Get her advice on things that she's knowledgeable about. If she's into fashion, ask her what to wear at to your company's holiday party.

1. Don't Be Jaded:
Just because females have wronged you in the past, don't write off the whole gender. The fact is, men don't bond the same way that women do, so while it might be easier to make male friends, you could be missing out on deeper relationships

"My Joy"

By: Tye Tribbett

YOU WERE THERE TO WRAP YOUR ARMS AROUND ME
WHEN MY NIGHTS WERE COLD AND LONELY
AND WHEN I NEEDED SHELTER FROM THE RAIN
ALL I HAD TO DO WAS CALL YOUR NAME
YOU NEVER LET ME DOWN YOU'RE ALWAYS THERE
YOU TOLD ME ALL MY BURDENS YOU WILL BEAR
I'LL NEVER TRULY UNDERSTAND YOUR WAYS
BUT I UNDERSTAND YOU LOVE ME AND FOR THIS I WANT TO SAY

YOU ARE MY JOY
YOU ARE MY JOY

IT'S BECAUSE OF YOU I SMILE RIGHT IN MY STORM
YOUR STRENGTH IS PERFECT WHEN I'M WEAK AND WORN
THANK YO FOR THE LOVE YOU GIVE TO ME
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GRACE AND MERCY
WHEN ALL OF THESE TRAILS SHOULD MAKE ME SAD
I WILL REJOICE FOR YOU HAVE MADE ME GLAD

YOU ARE MY JOY
YOU ARE MY JOY

I know this song is a little old, however, when I heard it I immediately fell in love with it. "You are my Joy," I cant say enough how good GOD has been! He has blessed me when I didn't deserve it...and I'm THANKFUL for it!!!

Workout Clothes for Curvy Girls!!!

http://tinyurl.com/yc78qz4

Chicago, IL (ABC Network) November 18, 2009 -- Not long ago, an ABC7 viewer contacted us after seeing a fashion show featuring plus-size models. The viewer wanted to know if we could help her find some stylish workout clothes for women with curves. She told us she is working out and feeling good. But she's unhappy wearing over-sized T-shirts and sloppy sweatpants while she exercises. She asked us to find comfortable and flattering workout wear for full-figured women. So we contacted our Curvy Style Expert and Columnist for www.DivineCaroline.com, Michele Weston who came up with some great suggestions.

"We're hitting the holiday celebrations and also creating all the lists of resolutions for getting healthier and looking great in our curves," Michele says. "Companies have found that for those of us with a fuller-figure, even the length of a T-shirt makes for a more comfortable workout experience."

Exercise wear that fits can make the workout session a more positive one, especially when trying out something new: like a spinning class, Yoga or Pilates mat class, or even walking outdoors, Michele adds.

"Everybody wants to be able to have the choices for working out no matter our size," Michele continues. "If you're wearing clothing that is designed for the task at hand and flatters your shape, chances are you will be more motivated not just to work out, but to work out harder and more effectively."

Road Trip! Road Trip!

I am going on my first road trip with Darrick and his family! We are going to Detroit for the weekend. The original reason for the trip was to go see the Cleveland Browns vs. Detroit Lions. However, since both of those teams are having a VERY crappy season, we are going for a weekend getaway!

I was told to pack one bag, and everything should fit into this one bag! Hmmm, I know Darrick doesn't believe that all my belonging will fit into one bag, well at least I hope that's not what he is thinking! LOL! A girl needs choices, I may like an outfit before I leave then get there and hate it!

Can someone please help me be fabulous, and fashionable out of one bag!!!
I need to take a class on how to pack!

I mean I think I am Kimora Jr. and she would have choices with her just in case there is a wardrobe malfunction!

Okay, maybe I'm pushing it...a little!

Celebs and their Closets!

One day my closet will look like this...
Christina Aguilera
In the Los Angeles mansion she shares with her husband, Jordan Bratman, and their 21-month-old son, Max (shown here), Christina Aguilera has not one but two expansive closets. First stop: Shoes. “Everything on my shoe wall is grouped by designer—Louboutin, McQueen, YSL—all in their own little family,” says Aguilera. “And there’s room for boots up top.”
Olivia Wilde
Recently, Olivia Wildeand her husband, Tao Ruspoli transformed the guest room and sitting room of their Venice, Calif. townhouse into a walk-in closet and a refined, comfortable office for the actress. The dramatic change was sparked by the Wilde’s godmother, Laurie Frank, a well-known L.A. gallerist and decorator, who convinced her to construct a sophisticated cedar-lined closet—outfitted with translucent panels, a plush rug from Cantoni, and a black-glass chandelier from Lawson-Fenning.
Fergie
When Fergie moved in with new husband, Josh Duhamel, she jumped at the opportunity to create a brand new closet. “We knocked down the wall between two rooms and Josh named it Fergieland!” she says. “I designed it myself, so there’s a boudoir-boutique feel.” The large room is just for Fergie’s things (organized by color and category of course), while Josh’s clothes are kept in his own closet in the master bedroom. “Before Josh and I moved in together my stuff would be over flowing into piles in the living room at his house.” she says. “Now I love the process of picking things out.”

Kimora Lee Simmons
Kimora Lee Simmons, head of Baby Phat clothing line, combined two bedrooms in her 49,000-square-foot Saddle River, N.J. home to create her expansive walk-in closet. “I wanted my closet to look like a boutique,” she says. It contains over 500 pairs of jeans, 35 custom-made Hermes Birkin bags and an extensive collection of jewelry. The closet, which is decorated with leopard-print carpet, marble columns, a mini-bar, and flat screen TVs, only holds some of her clothes—the overflow is stored in other bedroom closets. Everything in her closet is photographed and stored on her computer so she can easily put together outfits, “I’m very neurotic is what my closet says about me,” she says. “It’s always in great order.”

Jamie-Lynn Sigler
The Sopranos‘ actress has completely made-over a 2,700-square-foot Tribeca duplex. “Tribeca is very cool. There’s a lot of old architecture and a sense of mystery too.” Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s 200-square-foot closet was created by Anthony’s Custom Closets in Long Island and the new setup helps keep her designer dresses, bags, countless pairs of Genetic jeans, and over 75 pairs of shoes organized. “For years I have not been able to find anything in my closet,” says Sigler. “Now I see all my clothes shoes and accessories, even some stuff I completely forgot I had .. with the tags still on them!”

Maria Menounos
The 28-year-old actress and television correspondent has set up house in a white, Georgian-style home in Hollywood, CA. It was decorated with the help of designer Clayton Asher Doyle, of L.A. furnishing store Plantation. She transformed a massive upstairs space into Maria Menounos’ “office/hair-makeup-and-dressing room.”

Eva Longoria Parker
The 133-square-foot master closet in Eva Longoria Parker’s L.A. home is full of gorgeous gowns, shoes, shirts—and a coveted Hermes hot-pink crocodile Birkin bag. Taking a glance through her impressive shoe collection she calls her Christian Louboutin espadrille wedges “a beautiful pain” (she sprained her ankle wearing them in Paris) and says she has “always dressed for comfort”, which is easily confirmed by the 50 pairs of jeans and more than one pair of Ugg boots.
Nicky Hilton
The Hilton heiress and designer of fashion lines Chic and Nicholai grew up in hotels, but Nicky Hiltonnow calls a 1950s two-story ranch above the Sunset Strip home. It boasts two “very organized” couture-filled walk-in closets. Her shoe collection, which isn’t raided by her friends or family because of her size 10.5 foot, is organized by designer.”My Manolos are together, Chanels are together, Louboutins together.” Besides the 200 or more handbags she owns, one of Hilton’s prized pieces is a Roberto Cavalli beaded butterfly minidress that the designer gave her for her 24th birthday. “I was in Milan and he told me to pick whatever I wanted from his showroom!” she says.

Mariah Carey
The five-time Grammy award winning artist has an enormous, climate controlled closet in her 12,000 square foot Manhattan triplex. However, the vast space still can’t contain all of Mariah Carey’s shoes. “I have about 1,000 pairs of shoes. But lots are in storage,” she says. Carey designed the sweeping space with gold-leaf and bleached-wood floors. “Like Louis Vuitton luggage,” she says, “it will only look better over time.”

Paula Abdul
The former American Idol judge has an impressive walk-in closet in her 5,000 square foot Mediterranean style home in the San Fernando valley. All her outfits and coordinating accessories are numbered with tags so she can easily pack for trips and events. Her impressive shoe collection is made up mostly of high-heels—”I always wear heels unless I’m working out,” says Paula Abdul, who is just over five feet. Even with all of those shoes the former choreographer claims, “A comfortable pair of jeans, a great belt, and a leather jacket is all I need.”

Kissing You...

And I can't believe it's real
Can't believe it's you
I can't believe it's happening
I can't believe it's true

And I can't believe that you are here with me
And I am here with you

(Kissing you) Softly kissing you
(Kissing you) Forever kissing you
(Kissing you) Kissing you

Can't believe my eyes
I don't know what to do
Can't believe you are mine
Nor that I'm lying here with you
And I can't believe you're making love with me
And I'm making it with you

Through the night, I feel your fire
And there's nothing but you in my mind
As you quench me of all my desires
And I melt in ecstasy
Oh oh, I

Can't believe it's real
I can't believe it's true
I can't believe that you chose me
When I was choosing you
And I can't believe that you are here with me
And I am here with you

Ohh, kissing you

The other night I was laying in the bed thinking about my relationship, and how it has been 7 months that Darrick and I have been together. I started to thinking back to when we first got together, and how we used to listen to music in his kitchen (yes, the kitchen he has the ultimate bachelor pad) and occasionally we would listen and dance to music. On one particular night he sat me on his lap, and he played "Kissing You" by Faith Evans, he told me how he loved that song and he kissed me. At that moment I remember thinking to myself, I hope this feeling last forever. I never told Darrick that ever since that night, when I'm by myself I sit and listen to "Kissing You," I sit and remember that same feeling I felt the first night we listened to it!

6 Pairs of Shoes EVERY woman needs!

O, The Oprah Magazine creative director Adam Glassman says there are just six pairs every woman needs.
Take a Look below...

Evening Shoe
"For people who go out more often, you need a showstopping, gorgeous shoe," Adam says. Look for a classic shape in gold or a neutral color, dressed up with sequins or satin.

Comfortable Flat
When you want to kick off your heels but still look stylish, a comfortable flat is essential. Look for a pair with cushioning that will take you from work to the weekend.

Black Pump
Just like the little black dress, Adam says every woman needs a little black pump. "The 2-inch kitten heel is the easiest thing to wear," he says.

Sleek Comfort Sneaker
Adam says every woman needs a cute, sleek sneaker—not to be confused with the kind you wear to the gym. "Your gym sneakers should stay in the gym," he says. A dressier sneaker in a fun color is your go-to shoe. "It's like the comfort food of shoes," Adam says. "The comfort sneaker."

Tall Boot
Whether it's a flat riding boot or a sleek, heeled version, Adam says a tall boot is the perfect solution when temperatures start to drop. "A tall boot you can wear with a dress, you can wear it to the office, out at night or on weekends," he says.

All-Weather Boots
An all-weather boot that keeps your feet dry from the showers in the spring and the slush in the winter is crucial. Adam loves the iconic Hunter Boots, which can be layered with Hunter Fleece Socks to keep feet toasty in the winter.
