MOTIVATION!!!!

Ok, so I know we all have our moments were we feel "FAT." Yes, I said it...lately I have been feeling very FAT. A few weeks ago, I decided to get on the scale...I think my eyes nearly jumped out of my sockets at the number I saw. I am stretching by calling myself fat...but I will not stretch and give the number that I saw...LOL! I will say this is the most I have EVER weighed!!!!

While browsing to find blog topics, I came across Joy Nash's "Fat Rant." Now to many this video clip may be a bit offensive because she is saying the word FAT, however, for me it is motivation to get back to that feeling of being comfortable in the skin that I am in.

Being comfortable in my own skin is something that I blog about on a regular basis, but lately I have gotten away from that feeling. I feel uncomfortable in my clothes, I am constantly comparing myself to others....so today I am taking the stand to say...I NEED TO MAKE SOME CHANGES to get back to being comfortable in my own skin. Not only do I want to do this to get back to by "Curvy Fashionista" status, but I also need to do this for health reasons. I know my size is unhealthy for the height that I am.

So...I'm going to blog about this journey to get back to being comfortable in my own skin!

Keep a look out for blogs that will tell about my journey to becoming healthier and thinner!

My Next Read!!!

Ruby Gettinger, the star of the hit reality TV show “Ruby” on the Style Network, shares her personal insights and inspiring triumphs on the road to conquering morbid obesity in Ruby’s Diary. Americans have taken this courageous, plus-sized heroine into their hearts, and Ruby’s Diary, based on her private journals, brings us deeper into Ruby’s world than ever before—as she bravely bares her inner battles and her very public struggles to achieve health, happiness, and a longer life.
Book Summary I found:
From the debut of The Style Network's number one reality show Ruby, viewers fell in love with its sweet and spirited Southern star, and remain mesmerized by her public mission to overcome her inner conflicts and win her ongoing battle with weight.

At her heaviest, Ruby weighed more than 700 pounds (by the way I saw her on the Today Show and she has lost 378 pounds). Although she wasn't quite sure how she got to this point—or why—one thing was clear: it was killing her. Her doctor warned that her diabetes was raging out of control and that she could die at any moment. Vowing to change her life to save it, Ruby made a genuine commitment to uncover all of the underlying physical and psychological causes of her food addiction—an act of courage that has helped her lose nearly 400 pounds so far! To support her on this difficult path, Ruby has kept a journal of her experiences, including intimate reflections, surprising discoveries, and current fears, hopes, and dreams, many of which she shares here.

Filled with honesty, optimism, and classic "Rubyisms" as well as revealing insights from her friends, family, and team of experts, Ruby's Diary is a remarkable record of one determined woman's complex challenges and her many laudable achievements. Ruby's perseverance is not only an example to all those battling their own weight and addiction issues, it is an example to all those grappling with personal obstacles of any kind. Anyone not in love with Ruby just hasn't met her yet!

I cant wait till I come back from PA to go to the Bookstore to grab my copy!!!!

Quote of the Day Remix

HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!!!!

The words are simply:

How great is our God!

Say with me how great is our God!

All will see how great How great is our God

You're the name above all names!

You are worthy of our praise

And my heart will say How great is our God!

How great is our God!

Say with me how great is our God!

All will see how Great How great is our God!

We often sing the song "How Great is Our God," at church and I have always loved it. In the past few days I have been singing it in my head (Above is a clip of Johnathan Nelson singing it if you've never heard the song). This past week I had planned to go on vacation with Darrick (The Boyfriend...LOL), however, late Saturday night he received a call that his best friends sister was murdered. So our plans were changed and we no longer had a vacation, because he had to go Pennsylvania.

Yesterday, I went with him to Pennsylvania, and as I sat back and took in the scenery, I just had to THANK GOD FOR BEING GREAT!!! Many things we have take for granted, like waking up each morning, talking to our friends and family everyday, we complain of about life challenges, however, throughout all of that GOD IS STILL GREAT...and even when you think he isn't working in the background of your life he is!!!

So I writing this blog to say take the time everyday to tell the people you love, how much you appreciate them, how much you love them (by phone, text, or even email)...take the time to THANK GOD EACH AND EVERYDAY FOR BEING GREAT AND WORKING IN YOUR LIFE!

Queen Latifah Persona

Queen Latifah's new CD, "Persona," goes back to the roots that made her so unique in the first place. "Persona" is an enjoyable mix of singing and rapping, produced by hip-hop hitmakers Cool and Dre and featuring cameos from the likes of Missy Elliot, Mary J. Blige, Busta Rhymes and others. The style ranges from straight-up hip-hop to mid-tempo R&B to breathless techno, with a mercifully light sprinkle of the obligatory Autotune effects.
Take a listen to the clip below (I like it!!!)

SKORCH Model Hunt

Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of hosting a Model Hunt for SKORCH Magazine here in Cleveland, Ohio. I was super excited for this event because I had never hosted my own Model Hunt...heck, I've never been to a Model Hunt. LOL! When I arrived at the Torrid Store in my mind I was waiting for the staff to tell me what to do, however, it was totally the opposite. So I had to put my big girl britches on and dive in!
The event turned out to be very successful. I had a photographer Roy (R. Lamar Photography) take the girls pictures, while I had them sign release/authorization forms. I had the help of my sister Carlyce and my friend Antoinette (the photographers wife) assisting in getting the girls ready for their shots.
Take a look at some of the pictures I took at the Model Hunt:

Glamour to Feature More Plus-Size Nude Models

After the overwhelmingly positive response to the nude photo of plus-size model Lizzi Miller in the September issue, Glamour will reportedly feature "a slew of large, nude models" in November's issue.
Lizzi Miller, is the plus size model that was featured in the September Issue of Glamour Magazine. The article has caused a large stir in the fashion/modeling industry....both good and bad. Miller, is a size 12 to 14, a size in America that is considered to be the size of the average woman. Her photo is gaining a lot of attention as well as mixed reactions. In addition to the pooch, you can clearly tell that Lizzi has more meat on her bones than the typical model, as well as clearly defined in the crease of her knee when she crosses her legs. Yes, it’s plain to see, Lizzi Miller, unlike many other models, actually eats.
Miller is a plus size, she stands 5’11 and weighs 180 pounds, putting her between a size 12 and size 14. The Glamour shoot is about feeling comfortable in your own skin, and it is clearly obvious by the radiant smile on Lizzi’s face that she is comfortable with the way she looks.
What do you think? Would you want to see more Real Size Women in Magazines?
I'm anxious to check out the November Issue of Glamour Magazine to see what they have in store for the plus size woman.
