Quote Of The Day

Self-love has very little to do with how you feel about your outer self. It's about accepting all of yourself. You've got to learn to accept the fool in you as well as the part that's got it goin' on

The Sum of Our Parts by Les Delano-PLUS Model Magazine

A few post back, I did a piece on the Svoboda Sisters from the article "The Sum of Our Parts," by Les Delano of PLUS Model Magazine. While looking for more topics to blog about, I realized the article on the Svoboda Sisters was part of "The Sum of Our Parts," a series of articles.
While blogging today, I was so inspired reading the articles from women all around the world on their issues with being Plus Size Women. I found this article inspiring because I notice that when the summer time comes around I tend to get a little depressed with my size, despite all of the clothing that is available for women with curves. Reading a couple of the stories and what the women had to endure at a young age because of their size was depressing, however, reading what inspires them now, and their views on being plus size CONFIDENT women, inspired me!!!
So I guess you can say I was in a bit of a rut, but I am out!!!! If you're in a rut, or you would love to read stories about the issues plus size women deal with take a look at these articles.

Quote of the Day

"It hurt the first few times I read them, and then after like, I was like, "Oooh, this makes me want to succeed even more just for you, so you can say even more about me! How about that? My conflict in life is just making sure that I remember that I'm beautiful just the way I am, no matter what size I am. I'm thick and fabulous! I don't care how many haters are out there. I'm absolutely fabulous." (about the websites that mock her weight)

Maxi Dress

I have been eyeing the Maxi Dress since last year, however, I always thought that since I was plus size and on the shorter side that I couldn't pull off the look. I was scared to even try a dress on because I didn't want to be disappointed! Silly Me, this look can be pulled off any and everyone, you just have to find the right dress for your body type!

The Maxi Dress comes in a variety of solids, prints and styles there are plenty of options to choose from. The Maxi is unfairly compared to the dreaded mu-mu by many people who may confuse it's long length with shapelessness. However, plus sizes & curvy women can easily and fashionable wear this style, but should keep certain considerations in mind when looking for that perfect dress.

Encouraging Article from PLUS Model Magazine

Every morning before I get in the shower, I check my blackberry (yes, I'm addicted). This morning I received an email from PLUS Model Magazine called "The Sum of Our Parts: The Svoboda Sisters Share Their Thoughts on Body Image." Anytime I see the last name Svoboda, I read the article because I know the vital role that the Svoboda Sisters play in the plus fashion industry. As I continued to read the article, not only did I become encourage but I thought this article is something that all plus size women should read.
In the article the Svoboda Sisters state, "We find it crazy how many amazing women put their lives on hold or feel incomplete because of their weight." This statement is SOOO true!!! Many women in society believe that in order to have a full and complete life they have to be skinny. I dont want to give all of the article away so stop by PLUS Model Magazine's Blog to read the entire article.
