Target to Launch Plus-Size Line

While companies across the country are downsizing, some in the fashion world have decided that it's time for a bit of upsizing. This spring, the cheap chic emporium Target will join Forever 21, in launching plus-size lines for teenagers! (Great News...I LOVE TARGET!!!!)

Target's Pure Energy line will go up to a size 30. Pure Energy will have skinny jeans, maxi dresses and sleeveless party tops. I personally cant wait to see the Target Pure Energy line, it is so frustrating when I need a top at the spur of the moment and I go into Target and the only thing that the plus section has to offer are 'Grandma Tops.' Don't get me wrong I have found a few fashionable tops at Target, a few in regular section if there is a size XXL, and occasionally I have found cute tops in the plus section, however, the plus section doesn't compare to the regular section.

Here is a random shoppers reaction to the new Pure Energy Line... a full-figured teen in a stylish baby doll dress, was also excited. "I tried on something earlier that was totally cute and it did not fit my breast size, which is really frustrating, because I liked it."

This article is worth reading the entire article! There is an ongoing battle with obesity critics and those that study the clothing market on making plus size clothing. Basically the critics think that if more plus size clothing lines are created that this will send the message of embracing obesity, however, the message that it is sending to plus size people is that they can be just as fashionable as someone that is a size 2!

Rumor....

Rumor has it (according to The Cut) that Richie Rich is exploring the possibility of expanding his new line into plus-sized territory. “It should be cool. I’m coming out with a plus size, which I’ve never done before; that I’m really excited about,” Rich said. "Because a lot of the girls that approached me — and guys that approached me — are, um, you know, they’re not little twigs."

I feel strongly that girls need to hear that no matter what your body type is-whether its naturally skinny or naturally thick-what really matters is who you are, what you believe in, and what you stand for and how you treat others

Harpers Bazaar’ Showcases Plus-Size Model Love

(Model: Crystal Renn)

"Is the ever-present stick-thin model soon to be replaced by more curvaceous, even voluptuous mannequins? Perhaps, if the latest issue of Harpers Bazaar Australia is any indication. While Love opted to showcase a nude Beth Ditto on its debut cover in an effort to highlight non-sample size chic, Australian Bazaar includes an editorial with “plus size” model Crystal Renn this month."

Photographed by Louis Sanchis and styled by Wayne Gross, the spread is beautifully executed and doesn’t make any attempt to hide or trim down Renn’s curves.

"The brunette beauty is pictured in “sexy bustiers, strappy dresses, and sheer lingerie ... in an 80’s-inspired shoot that felt reminiscent of Terence Donovan,” says Refinery 29, who has a preview of the full spread. It’s not the first time Renn has made waves as the star of a stunning fashion editorial after battling anorexia and launching her career as a plus-size model. Back in 2005 she posed for Craig McDean for a French Vogue; shortly thereafter, Steven Meisel snapped her for Italian Vogue. She’s also graced runways for Vena Cava, Heatherette, and Jean-Paul Gaultier. Not to mention, the model is dropping her first book this fall, titled "Hungry," which follows her experience in the fashion industry. "

I think Crystal Renn looks fabulous in the pictures, and I cant wait to see Plus Models on the Cover of Magazines in the US! Im also anxious to read the book "Hungry" coming out this fall!!!

“We wanted our ESSENCE readers to see firsthand the dynamic bond between First Lady Michelle Obama and Mrs. Marian Robinson. Both of these ladies are phenomenal women in their own right, and are each others’ greatest fans. Their relationship is inspiring—and they are a wonderful example for mothers and daughters everywhere,“ notes Burt-Murray.

ESSENCE staffers pose with the First Lady and Mrs. Robinson after an exciting and very fast-paced morning in the White House. “It literally felt like family,” notes ESSENCE Photo Editor Deborah Boardley. “You could tell they were proud to be doing the shoot.”

Bent Creations-Australian Based Plus Size Fashion Company

PLUS-SIZED fashion has found a new home, with the opening of Bent Creations ladies fashion boutique in Graceville last week.
Michelle Bent, the designer and founder of Bent Creations said her label provided stylish designs and bold colours, something she found often lacking in plus-size ranges.
“Rockman’s, David Jones, and other specialty retailers have seemingly reduced plus-size fashion ranges, leaving me in many instances no option but to design and make my own clothes,” she said.
A 14-week stint spent selling her designs at the Southbank markets was so successful Ms Bent decided to open her own store.
The stock includes jackets, dresses, skirts and pants, all made from 100 per cent cotton. “When you’re a larger size the heat can be terrible and cotton breathes really well,” she said. “Classical white, black and red are staple colours of the range along with bright yellow, lime green and orange for winter.”
* The store is open 10am-5pm, Monday to Friday and 9.30am-4.30pm on Saturdays. For after hours appointments, phone Michelle Bent on 0402 821 883.

Fox's 'plus-size' dating show

A dating series featuring "plus-size" men and women will air on Fox Broadcasting later this year. The network said Monday that it had ordered "More to Love," a show it describes as an average single guy "with a big waist and an even bigger heart" choosing among several "confident and secure plus-size women."
"This is the first dating competition show in television history that reflects what most real single men and women look like, which makes it instantly relatable to the vast majority of people in the dating pool," said Mike Darnell, Fox Broadcasting's president of alternative entertainment. "

"More to Love" "sends the right message about embracing and loving yourself no matter your shape or size," said executive producer Mike Fleiss, also an executive producer of ABC's "The Bachelor," prime-time television's longest-running dating series.

Quote of the Day!
